• Determination

Determination is to make a decision and stand by it, not giving up and pushing forward, even in difficult circumstances. When you are determined to do something, you have decided what you are going to do, and you are pushing through to do it!   You will not stop until the job is done.

For example, you can only succeed in something by doing it with sheer grit and determination.

Other words similar to “determination” are “resolution”, “pluck”, “grit” and “persistence”.

With determination, you can get anything done!  Think of a little girl who wants an ice-cream – she will keep on asking her mom until she gets what she wants.

Sentences to use together with determination:

Chris recovers well from setbacks and is able to get on with the task, even if it may prove more difficult than he initially thought.

Jolene is able to bounce back if confronted with a difficult situation.  She is usually very determined not to give up.
